I spent some time teaching silversmithing to high school students in Shanghai a bunch of years ago. One day, I was heading home from work in a taxi and passed what looked like a really cool street market. On a whim, I stopped the driver, hopped out of the cab, and wandered the stalls until I found these beautiful old coins. My bartering skills were strong but my Mandarin skills were weak, so the entire exchange was both frustrating and hilarious, which made the final purchase all the more precious. I loved China so much. This pendant is literally worth its weight in gold for the memories it holds.
Available in sterling silver or bronze.
